Many people ask the question, “Why is life on Earth impossible without plants”. After all, cities can exist without trees. But their importance is really huge, without plant cover everything would die.
Creating Oxygen :
Even in school, children are taught that plant cover produces the oxygen needed for life. Although many don’t believe it. But it’s true. A single tree can produce enough oxygen to make a person last for 3 days in one day. Otherwise, there would simply be no oxygen on Earth.
Soil formation :
Plants create organic substances that are necessary for the consumption of living things. For example, products created by decomposition or leaves, branches, and roots. All of these create soil. And the amount of organic matter determines how fertile the soil will be.
Even animals cannot survive without plants. The reason is that many feed on grass. Without vegetation, living things would simply have no food – they would die.
In general, all animals, including predators, would die without plants. After all, the latter feed on other representatives of this kingdom, which, without vegetation simply will not exist.
Accumulation of organic matter :
All living things need energy. And its green mass gets it from the sun, and concludes in carbohydrates. And it is the resulting sugar is a source of energy for humans and animals. But this only applies to green plants. Those without chlorophyll recycle dead organic matter so that the greens can use it.
Energy storage :
Plants continually absorb solar energy by storing it. This is important to nature because organics are a good transporter of energy. Humans use gas, oil, and wood, substances that release the energy previously stored in green matter.
Influence on climate :
Plant cover has a very strong influence on the creation and change of climate. The creation and fertility of the soil depends on it.
The forest is able to mitigate abrupt temperature changes by retarding wind and improving the water-air regime of the soil. In addition, plantations are able to anchor the soil on a slope, creating a barrier to erosion and soil movement.
Cleaning function :
Grass is also capable of killing viruses and germs. It purifies the air. More than 70 percent of the dust and 60 percent of the sulfur dioxide in the air is deposited on plant cover. Trees also beautify the landscape and make the atmosphere healthier.
I think it’s clear now why life on Earth is impossible without plants. After all, they are the ones that produce the oxygen that living things breathe.
